News
Its the weekend before the Futurity's and Im picking up the mares from stud ready to take the foals to Plumpton on the 31st August. Lots of preperation is needed before hand and I will be practising leading and trimming up all the foals this weekend ready for the BIG DAY!
Its the 8th of August and some of the mares have gone up to stud near Nottinghamshire at Huncicroft stud. On the way I dropped off Belle at the Shinglehall stud to get her recovered again with Senator. Fingers crossed that they all get INFOAL!
There have been a few problems at the stud with regards to getting the mares infoal for next year. I am still pursuing this and hopefully they will be sorted soon. It does mean that the foals next year will be late and due to foal mid to late July, but thats better than having mares stood empty and not earning. I love my horses to bits and give them everything but once in a while they have to give me something in return so that I can keep them all, as you all know its an expensive hobby.
On a good note I have had one mare scanned infoal which is Prudence who is infoal to Sambertino! I am very excited to see what comes out of this combination next year, it is due around the 13th June. There will be updates this month if mare have taken or not KEEP WATCH!
What a great and exhausting day we had at the futuritys. Rebel (Revolution) went in the morning, I could not have asked him to have behaved any better! He was entered into the showjumping section, as a foal he gained a third premium with a score of 7.43. Now, as a yearling he achieved a High Second Premium with a score of 7.86, only 0.14 from a first Premium. The judges liked his canter the best, said he was very balanced and had good trainability. They still said he was a little immature as he was as a foal, but he is going to be a very big boy, and will take longer to develop than others. Once he has I have no doubt that he will make a stunning stallion.
Louis (Apache Warrior) had a very busy day! He was not going to attend the futurity as he had to go to the vets in the morning. He had to have his knee scanned and x rayed, all was thankfully fine. Kathy was hoping to take him in August, but there was already a waiting list so was most likely to miss out this year if he didn't get there that day.
He was entered into the eventing section, as a foal he gained a first premium with a score of 8.04, now as a yearling he achieved another First Premium with a higher score of 8.25! He was also Reserve High Score of the day! in the yearling eventing section out of 8 at Plumpton College. This was all with shaven knees and for a yearling to have gone to the vets in the morning, rushed back, bathed and plated and then to go back out and achieve them marks is remarkable! He has one brilliant temperament on him!
I now look forward to some news on mares infoal for next year and am very excited about taking the foals to the futurity at the end of August STAY TUNED!
Since my win at the South of England show and the arrival of the second foal Romeo, there has been the arrival of Libby and the last foal of the year Juliette, both filly's. You will find there pics and info on the foal page. I am very happy with the out come of this years foals and am very excited to see how they all do at the Futurity's this year and in there show careers in the future.
Now they have arrived safely comes the hard work of handling them and bringing them up to be well mannered youngsters. On the 20th July I will be taking My Spires Revolution to the Futurity's at Plumpton joined by his half brother My Spires Apache Warrior where me and Kathy hope to do well. An update on the results after that day.
WISH US LUCK!
On the 10th June I went to the south of england show with Rebel for experience and to get him out.
There was 8 in my class and to my amazement we WON! I couldn't fault him, he did everything I asked perfectly and in paid off.
My Spires Apache Warrior was also there with best friend Kathleen Renner and came 5th, he was a good boy and when he starts to show off his beautifully paces more in front of the judge, he will be getting the red ribbons. Well done Kathy!
The next morning in a rain storm Leah had her bay colt which you can see on the foal page. He is perfect and is called My Spires Rain Dance as he was literally dancing in the Rain.
Two down two to go, update shortly.
Well what a unexpected surprise I had on the morning of the 24th May, my first foal born just over 2 weeks early. A filly with a pretty little head and unusual markings see foal page.
